Club Awards recognise 2023’s Rugby Heroes

The 31st Club Awards saw the following clubs applauded as finalists in the Rugby Club of the Year category, sponsored by TNT Sports.

The impressive list of finalists were:

Canterbury Rugby Football Club
Cheltenham Rugby Club
Crawley Rugby Football Club
Helston Rugby Football Club
Maidstone Rugby Football Club
Old Leamingtonians Rugy Football Club
Old Streetonians Rugby Football Club
Old Yardleians Rugby Football Club
Rugeley Rugby Club
Walsall Rugby Football Club
Wednesbury Rugby Club

And the winner was... Canterbury Rugby Football Club (pictured with TNT Sports' guest presenter for the night, Ex-England Goalkeeper Peter Shilton).

Host, sports presenter and rugby enthusiast John Inverdale said: "At the club’s core is a strong sense of rugby for all, demonstrated in the progression paths from the vibrant boys, and girls mini and youth sections, right through to the highly competitive senior men and women’s teams. Congratulations."

Next, TNT Sports' Alisdair Collis and Club Rugby welcomed the Community Rugby Clubs of the Year on stage

Cheltenham Tigers Rugby Club was praised for really embracing the community above and beyond purely rugby, all with the aim of getting people out and active. It’s re-laying of the floodlit Multi Use Playing Area has been pivotal here, and Netball, Tennis, Basketball plus Walking Football are all part of the local offering.
Old Leamingtonians RFC was recognised as truly a rugby club at the heart of its community, with teams for everyone regardless of gender, age or ability – from mixed ability to contact teams, tag for mixed gender and Walking Rugby for those struggling with fitness but who still want to play the sport they love.
